biography

Robert Curry grew up in the late 50's in Upstate Western New York. He recalls at a very young age being influenced by contemporary art when touring the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. Albright-Knox is a premier
gallery with exhibits from such celebrated American artists as Johns, Pollack, Stella and warhol. Ultimately, in his late teens, Robert attended State University College of New York at Buffalo, virtually across the street from Albright-Knox. His major was design and fine arts.

Upon completing his studies at the college level, he moved to Southern California and was fortunate enough to get a position at Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park, California, as a scenic artist working alongside such world-renowned artists as Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, creator of Rat Fink and other automobile cultural art. Robert says, "It was my lucky day to be able to apprentice under some of the great working artists like Big Daddy. It was even a greater experience than going to college." He remained over five years at Knott’s Berry Farm to hone his skills and to feel confident in starting his own studio.

Robert soon realized that staying focused in the field of your choice was one of the great gifts in life. He has spent the last twenty five "focused" years in Southern California or Las Vegas, NV, where he has had numerous art shows. He resides in Las Vegas doing commercial artwork and fine arts. Recently, when working at the Mirage Casino for Cirque du Soleil on the Beatles’ Love Show, Paul Mc Cartney came by to see the work in progress. When not busy painting a mural in one of the Casinos, Robert is creating contemporary art.
